Reporting to the Senior Director, Resource Development, this individual will contribute to the overall achievement of JA Canada’s $4.2M fundraising goal. S/he will have primary accountability for all sponsorship aspects of the annual Canadian Business Hall of Fame Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremony (Gala). The incumbent will lead the sponsorship solicitation cycle while ensuring integration of the event with the fundraising operations of JA Canada. In addition, the successful candidate will have responsibility to manage a portfolio of corporate and individual donors. 




  • Conduct self in a manner consistent with the JA Canada culture, mission and values.
  • Work in a collaborative manner with JA Canada employees, board members, volunteers and JA Charter Leaders and staff, efficiently, effectively and to achieve desired strategic and operational results.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the success of JA Canada.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards in keeping with generally accepted professional practices.

 Resource Development

  • Execute on operational plans, processes, and policies in support of the Resource Development goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies and work plans that engage, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of corporate and individual prospective donors.

 Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain relationships with corporations in Canada including the very largest enterprises, as well as small and mid-market businesses.
  • Complete calls and visits in order to generate new business in order to meet personal fundraising goal.
  • Identify, strategize and design opportunities to grow new and existing business.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with individuals interested in supporting the work of JA Canada.
  • Work closely with the appropriate teams with regard to gift administration, marketing, proposal development, recognition and stewardship.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with Charters to support program alignment, proposal development, volunteer opportunities, donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

 Canadian Business Hall of Fame

  • Primary responsibility for achieving revenue targets for the Gala through implementation of an effective solicitation and annual cycle of sponsorship activities.
  • Ensuring integration of sponsors and the event with the operations of JA Canada.
  • Develop, own and manage internal work back schedules for the duration of the project and ensure all key deliverables and milestones are being met by various stakeholder groups, including internal teams.
  • Manage sponsorships and assets in relation to events and ensure contractual benefits are fulfilled and activated upon.
  • Work closely and collaboratively on the CBHF planning, execution, and stewardship.


  • Achieve annual Gala sponsorship revenue goal.
  • Implement and maintain plans and systems that ensure results are measured, achieved and reported.
  • Prepare timely reports and presentations, as required.
  • Routinely track and report on metrics and activity in CRM.

 Donor Relations and Stewardship

  • Leverage JA Canada’s excellent reputation to cultivate relationships and develop new partnerships and donors.
  • Provide outstanding donor support and service through best-in-class stewardship.
  • Support the implementation of an effective and timely donor recognition program.
  • Ensure completion of JA Americas or JA Worldwide donor reporting requirements in a timely manner by working with Charters.

 Charter Engagement and Support

  • Identify, strategize and design opportunities to grow new and existing business.
  • Maintain a relationship-building approach with JA Charters to enhance the collaborative prospect management process.



The ideal candidate will possess the following experience, skills, attributes and capabilities:

  • University undergraduate degree, or commensurate work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in fundraising; preference given to those who have worked in a federated not-for-profit model
  • Experience in sponsorship sales is essential
  • Experience in major gift fundraising and working on a capital campaign is considered an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • CFRE, or those pursuing the designation is considered an asset
  • The ability thrive and work in a virtual environment
  • The ability to work well independently on several projects concurrently, and possess excellent organizational and creative thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong business acumen and results-oriented
  • High degree of integrity and work ethic
  • Proficient in MS suite of products and working with a CRM
  • Willing to travel to meetings within the GTA
  • Willing to work periodically outside of regular office hours



  • While primarily within a virtual office environment, this position requires travel within the GTA for meetings and occational travel to the downtown Toronto office.
